Here’s my experience with opening a fidelity brokerage.

Last week I opened one up and put $100 into it. It went pretty smooth, and I downloaded the app and planned to transfer more money to it later that week.

Two days after opening it, I get a notice that my account has been restricted/locked, because I need to provide some sort of document.

I had to call customer service to figure out what was going on and they said I need to show proof of my physical address with a copy of my mortgage statement, rent statement, or utility bills.

I explain to the person that my living situation is unique and I do not have a mortgage or rent and I’m not the one paying utility bills so I cannot provide what they are asking for.

This went back-and-forth with multiple people for a couple days. Lots of time wasted. In the end, they said I would not be able to use my brokerage services unless I provided one of those three documents that I literally cannot provide for them.

I asked them to give me my money back and close the account.

They said they were going to hold the money for a month before giving me my money back.

    Fidelity is trash.

Be warned about Fidelity : we have been Fidelity customers for over 10 years, but then retired and sold our house, so we have all the time available to travel full-time supported with a 7-figure retirement portfolio. As soon as we reported the address change, Fidelity stopped doing business with us. While Fidelity has a good website, tools, and investment options Fidelity's policies even for long-time customers that decide to travel full-time is horrible. Be warned.

Be careful with Fidelity: warning, stay away from Fidelity Investment.

We are leaving Fidelity Investment, as we are disgusted by some of their policies. While Fidelity has good tools, and good investment options, they will make your life miserable – even when you've been a customer for over 10 years – because you decided to sell your home and travel the US full-time. No, the Patriot Act doesn't force banks to do this, see page 480. Disgusting behavior from Fidelity, so we are leaving Fidelity Investment.

Do you write checks with your Fidelity account? I am thinking about moving my direct deposits from my checking at my local credit union to my Fidelity checking.

I am new to Fidelity. I transferred my trading from TD Ameritrade. I would like a tutorial on Fidelity's Activity Statement. Can you go over the jargon on the statement. Like" what is "Journaled"? And other use of terms. Thank you

Hello, question about the health savings account. I have a health equity savings account with my employer funding it from my salary. Do you have automatic transfers from health equity to fidelity or is it something you do periodically?
