How to Get Money Out of Your Acorns Invest Account
Acorns is a popular investment app that rounds up your everyday purchases and invests the spare change into a diversified portfolio. It’s an excellent tool for beginners looking to dip their toes into investing without needing to have a lot of experience or capital. However, life happens, and sometimes you may need to access your funds. In this article, we’ll walk you through the process of withdrawing money from your Acorns Invest account.
Step-by-Step Guide to Withdraw Funds from Acorns
Step 1: Open the Acorns App
Start by launching the Acorns app on your smartphone. If you don’t have the app installed, you can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Step 2: Log into Your Account
Enter your email and password to log into your Acorns account. If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset it by following the prompts.
Step 3: Navigate to Your Invest Account
Once you’re logged in, navigate to your Invest account. You can usually find this on the main dashboard. It will display your account balance, investment performance, and other relevant information.
Step 4: Choose the “Withdraw” Option
Look for the “Withdraw” or “Transfer To Bank” option. This will allow you to start the process of taking funds out of your investment account.
Step 5: Enter the Amount to Withdraw
You’ll be prompted to enter the amount of money you want to withdraw. Keep in mind that there may be minimum withdrawal limits, as well as potential fees, especially if you’re investing through Acorns Later (retirement accounts). Make sure you understand any implications of withdrawing funds from your account before finalizing your request.
Step 6: Select Your Bank Account
If you haven’t linked a bank account yet, you’ll need to do so. This usually involves entering your bank details, verifying your account, and possibly completing a small deposit verification process. If your bank account is already linked, just select it for the transfer.
Step 7: Confirm Your Withdrawal
After entering the amount and selecting your bank account, review the withdrawal information and confirm the transaction. This step is crucial, as you want to ensure you’re withdrawing the correct amount.
Step 8: Wait for Processing
Once your withdrawal request is confirmed, it will take some time to process. Typically, Acorns indicates that withdrawals may take 3-5 business days to appear in your linked bank account, so patience will be required.
Important Considerations
-
Withdrawal Limits: Be aware of any limits associated with how much money you can withdraw, especially if you’re managing an account with a retirement focus.
-
Fees: While Acorns generally doesn’t charge fees for standard withdrawals, check their policy in case you’re withdrawing from specific investment types.
- Investment Impact: Withdrawing funds can impact your long-term investment strategy. If you’re investing for future goals, remember that withdrawing funds can affect your growth potential.
Conclusion
Withdrawing money from your Acorns Invest account is a straightforward process, but ensuring you understand the implications of the withdrawal is essential for your financial strategy. By following the outlined steps, you can quickly access your funds whenever necessary. Remember, investing is a journey, and knowing how to manage your investments effectively—including withdrawals—is an important skill for long-term financial success.

If they lock your account, you are hosed. Can’t get your money out then. I’ve known a few people with this problem, and they call and call and do everything asked of them from Acorns 855 number, and are still out their money and locked. Better Business Bureau should have been checked first, as they show very low rating with tons of complaints… surprise surprise, all about the same issue that the few people I know have with Acorns Banking. Recommendation: steer clear of this almost scam of a bank
